This is the latest work from Marguerite, and it's with MY band. This CD features 5 tunes with Marguerite's fabulous throat, and chances are good that each one of them will stike your fancy. The disc starts off with "I've Got the World on a String", which includes a great scat chorus. "Blue Monk" has it's own weird feel that I really think Monk would dig. The highlight of the CD for me is her deep, dark tone on "Chelsea Bridge", one of the most hauntingly beautiful tunes from the Strayhorn/Ellington songbook. And speaking of Ellington, check out her work on the standard "Don't Get Around Much Anymore". Not to mention the Billie Holiday hit "Comes Love", which has some clever lyrics as well as a really great minor key groove. All of these (and a few more tunes without Marguerite) feature the work of myself on guitar, Jon Erikson on Bass Trumpet, Klaus Brondum on String Bass and Pete Ehrmann on Drums. It's a swinging quartet and I'm proud to offer this CD (warts and all - pretty much all mine) to the public and even more proud to have my friend Marguerite all over it. Recorded with no overdubs or fixes, it's live from Klaus' house (thanks, Frodo).
